Girard School Foundation
MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the Girard School District Foundation is to enhance educational opportunities for all District students; to increase public involvement in schools; to increase initiatives which support quality instruction and lifelong learning endeavors and to encourage alumni and others to support the Foundation through annual gifts, planned gifts and memorial gifts.
The Girard School District (GSD) Foundation is a newly formed organization seeking public support for quality education. The purposes of the GSD Foundation are to enhance educational opportunities for all K-12 students; to increase public involvement in schools; and to create initiatives which support quality instruction and lifelong learning endeavors. In 2010, a group of concerned citizens in conjunction with the Girard School Board and District Administration has submitted the federal application to be classified as a 501C3 non-profit charitable organization. By becoming a non-profit organization, the Girard School District Foundation can solicit donations to enhance the GSD education programs from many sources. Not only can the GSD Foundation offer itselfas a source for charitable donations from individual gifts, the Foundation can solicit donations from trusts, estates, and apply for grants available only to non-profit charitable organizations. The Girard School District Foundation will use the funds generated to award grants for innovative education opportunities otherwise not funded. Additionally, the GSD Foundation will be able to provide for funding, development and future growth of student scholarships. The Girard School District has a long-standing tradition of providing students K-12 with a high quality education. The GSD Foundation will continue the tradition of educational excellence. As a GSD resident, please consider a future commitment to the Foundation, either financially or through volunteering to help raise funds. With the community and the GSD Foundation working together, the educational opportunities for our students are unlimited! |
