Welcome to the Girard School District Safety Committee website
Who are we?
House Bill 1614, signed by the Governor on October 9, 2009, includes a provision “that each school district shall have and maintain a certified safety committee.” The Workplace Safety Committee consists of administrative and employee representatives who have an interest in the general promotion of safety and health for the Girard School District. Our committee is responsible for making recommendations on how to improve safety and health in the workplace. We have been charged with the responsibility to define problems and remove obstacles to accident prevention; to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions; to help identify employee and student safety needs and establish accident investigation procedures for our district.
In order for us to operate successfully, full staff involvement is required. You will be asked to keep us abreast of issues that arise in your buildings and/or areas as well as keep us informed with Incident report forms. We are the committee, but you are the acting force.
NOTICE: Any accidents that happen please report to the school nurse. The nurse will fill out any incident forms and will report them to the safety committee. If you end up seeing a doctor because of your accident please fill out a workers compensation form as soon as the accident happens or within 24 hours of the accident. The workers compensation form is your responsibility.
