Mrs. Service General Music classes are to report to the Student Lounge with something to work on.

 

After homeroom today all 5th grade band members are to report to the music room. That includes 5th grade brass and 5th grade drums. We will be practicing for Tuesday’s concert.

 

The 6th and 7th grade band students will also be on an altered schedule today. Faculty please refer to Mr. Nawrocki’s email from May 3rd for details.

 

RAMS Annual Cross Country Race is this Monday, May 21st.  Flyers are outside Mr. Clawson’s room.

All students attending the Straight A field trip today should meet in the North lobby at 8:45.  You will not be called, so please watch the clock.  We should return about 2:15 today.  Congratulations to our Straight A students!

 

The spring chorus concert is tonight at 6 in the Girard High School auditorium.   The concert is free and open to the public.   There will be a violin rehearsal this morning.  Meet in the lobby by the office at 9:30 with your violin and music.    All chorus students have rehearsal this afternoon.  Meet at 1:10 in the lobby.

There is a chorus practice at 9:15 for grades 5, 6, and 7 in the cafeteria today.    There is also a chorus practice for members of the 8th grade chorus this afternoon.  Meet in the lobby by the office at 1:10.

There are only ten open slots for Sport Physical.  Sign up in the office.  Physicals are June 4th and the cost is $10.00.

 

The Student Council Cornhole tournament for this Friday is cancelled due to a lack of participation.  We hope to reschedule for fall when the schedule is a bit more open.

Great news!  Miss Noon and Mr. McNally’s classes will be reporting to the gym for the last 16 days of school!  Students- you should report to PE in sneakers and clothes you are able to move in.   You will not be required to change for class but the option is there should you want to.

Congratulations to the girls’ volleyball team on a victory over northwestern last night. The girls won the game in 2 sets.

The Soccer GOLD Team defeated General McLane 6-0.  2 goals – Maddie Soudan, 1 goal by Katie Brocious, Abby Erion, Ella Wisnewski, and Grace Scheppers.  The RED team also defeated General McLane 5-0 – 2 goals by Abbi Erion, 1 goal by Maddie Soudan, Elisiah Flowers, and Shannon Salorino.

Today is a day of academic acknowledgement.

Thank you to McDonalds for sponsoring our Breakfast of Champions.  High Honor Roll students should report to the café after announcements.  Also, High Honor and Honor Roll students should be dismissed to the café for “The Greatest Showman” at 12:40.  You will return to PM homeroom for dismissal.  Remember, attending the movie is a privilege and it is also an option.  If you would rather stay in class, you may choose to do so this afternoon.  However, you may not return to class once the movie has started.  Congratulations to all of our scholars!

RAMS scholars, we did not forget about you!  Now that PSSAs are winding down, the Breakfast of Champions and Honor Roll movie have been scheduled for next Friday, April 27th.   The Breakfast of Champions will follow announcements next Friday and invites will come at the beginning of next week.  The honor roll list for the movie will also be posted next week.  We will be showing “The Greatest Showman”.  This should be a fun day to celebrate your hard work!

Calling all leprechaun hunters!  Today is St. Patrick’s Day and your challenge is to hunt down the twelve leprechauns and two pots of gold that are hidden in the school.  These are only paper cutouts of leprechauns and gold!  If you find a leprechaun, bring it to the office and trade it in for a donut.  If you find a pot of gold, bring it to the office and trade it in for your own pot of (candy) gold.  Only one person may turn in each leprechaun or pot of gold and you may only win once today.  Happy hunting!!

The GHS Dramatics Department will present Guys & Dolls tonight and Saturday at the high school.  Tickets are $3 to $5, and all shows are at 7 p.m.  Don’t “Rock the Boat”!  Come see this hilarious musical comedy!

Congratulations to the  5th grade boys basketball team!  They took second place at the St. George Tournament this past weekend.

 

Coach Britt has an announcement for all girls who were signed up for mini league. Unfortunately it is canceled for this season but the refund night is Tuesday and Wednesday this week from 6-8 at the high school. Hope to see you all there.

8th grade students who job shadowed on Friday, February 2nd are reminded that your job experience log and thank you note are due today.  Without these documents, your absence for February 2nd will not be excused. 

 

Students who have been invited to attend the Honor Roll movie afternoon will be dismissed at 12:40. Grade 7 and 8 lunch has been moved to 11:51 to accommodate the movie time. Grades 5 and 6 will be dismissed to the café.  Grades 7 and 8 will be dismissed to the gym.  You are to go directly to the bleachers and must walk at all times in the gym.  Both movies will end around 2:30, at which time you will return to your last block and then PM homeroom.  Bring yourself to the movie and nothing else.  Keep in mind that the movie is a privilege.  Just like a movie theater, no one appreciates side conversations and misbehavior.  If you don’t want to see the movie, you may stay in class.  Congratulations to all our Honor Roll students!

All girls’ middle school basketball players are invited to the game against Conneaut on Monday, January 29thJV is 6:00, followed by Varsity at 7:30.  If you wear your Girard bball shirt, you will get in free, but you must be accompanied by a parent.

8th grade students who are interested in a job shadowing experience for Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 2nd should pick up a packet of information on the brown table outside the office.  You must follow the very specific instructions in order to participate.  Permission is due by January 31st.  If you have questions please see Miss Ratkowsi as soon as possible. 

 

Any student on the third floor is expected to clean out their locker today.  That’s all 6th and 8th graders!  The second floor is scheduled for Thursday, and 5th grade wing will be on Friday

The Fairview/Girard 7th & 8th grade basketball games scheduled for tonight (January 12th) have been moved to Fairview.  We will play 8th grade at FMS (4:00) followed by the 7th grade (5:15).
