Student Council is excited to announce two exciting events:  first, we are hosting a Halloween Dance on Friday, October 27th after school until 4:30.  Second, next week is Red Ribbon week and Student Council has some exciting dress up theme days and contests for you to participate in.  Stay tuned for more details on both events this week.

 

RAMS Cross Country Team raced at Rocky Grove on Saturday.  Boys:  Danny Santry medaled at 39th.  Also, raced was Dylan Culver and Jeremiah Keep.  In the elementary race Xander Currier medaled for 22nd.  McKenzie Shady and Ellie Cardman raced in the girls’ division.

For the month of October students and faculty in the Girard School District can help with Hurricane Relief by donating specific items.

See posters in homerooms and throughout the building for items needed. 

Students, your goal is to reach 500 items for RAMS in order to earn a scary movie day on Halloween!

Also, the top 10 homerooms will receive another reward you won’t want to miss!

Attention 8th grade students:  This Friday the 13th is the last day to turn in your permission slip for the Erie Art Museum.  Please turn in your permission slip to either Mrs. Conley in the Art Room or Mrs. Chamberlain/ Science.  It is also important to mark your lunch choice.  We must have an official count for lunch and students by Friday.

 

There is Elf rehearsal for those playing Macy Employees.

There is a schedule posted in the cafeteria.  Please Check the schedule daily to see what songs/numbers you are in.  You are only required to be at the rehearsals for which you are scheduled.

The competition will feature the Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane, Iroquois, Saegertown, Erie All-City, North East, and Northwestern High school bands. It will also feature your very own Marching Yellow Jackets. Come out on Saturday evening and cap off your homecoming week by supporting the marching band. Tickets cost $4.00 for students and $6.00 for adults. Faculty and staff will be admitted for free.

There is a MANDATORY parent meeting for all those cast in Elf. Jr.  The meeting is today at 6 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium.   Rehearsal schedules, costume plots, and a variety of information will be distributed at this meeting.  Please attend with a parent or a guardian.

 

This Saturday the marching band will be hosting our home competition, October Winds, right here at Batles Memorial Field beginning at 6:15. The competition will feature the Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane, Iroquois, Saegertown, Erie All-City, North East, and Northwestern High school bands. It will also feature your very own Marching Yellow Jackets. Come out on Saturday evening and cap off your homecoming week by supporting the marching band. Students should not be writing on themselves period.  If you are writing on your arms and legs this is an educational distraction to the person writing on themselves, others and staff members here at RAMS. This must stop immediately.

 

·         Students should never kick their lockers when shutting their lockers.  Kicking lockers is an absolute no and causes damage to our lockers.  This must stop immediately.

In the morning from 7:20 to 7:50 the SRC will be a quiet place for students to read, study and complete assignments.  There will be no talking.  If this expectation is not followed you will be asked to leave the SRC. Talking and socializing can be done in the hallways and cafeteria while eating breakfast.  Mrs. Lossie will not be checking out books the next several days in order to enforce the new SRC expectations.

The RAMS Drama Club will hold auditions for Elf Jr., based on the hit Will Farrell film.  Auditions are Tuesday, Sept. 26 for grades 7 and 8 and Wednesday, Sept. 27 for grades 5 and 6 in the RAMS music room from 2:50 onward.  No preparation is necessary.  Any questions, please see Mr. Hlebik in Room 2005 or pick up a packet of information in the cafeteria at lunch time!  All roles are available.

 

The football game vs. Mercyhurst Prep this Friday will be our annual Coaches vs. Cancer game….we will be charging an extra dollar to get into the game…..adults will be charged $5, and students will be charged $3….all proceeds will be donated to cancer research and people suffering from this disease….thanks for your support….It also is Pink Out.  Don’t forget to wear all the pink you can to support this cause.

What does a scientist look like? Students in Mrs. Gomes and Mr. Beachly’s Science classes are asked to contemplate this question, then dress like it! Friday 9/22 will be dress like a scientist day. Please come dressed like whatever you think a scientist looks like. Remember all dress code rules still apply. Also, no makeup or hair color. Props will only be permitted with prior approval from a teacher. Please see your teacher if you have questions!

Just a reminder that today is RAMS Student Council Election day!

All students will need their Chromebooks to complete their Google Form ballot during intervention. You will need to be logged into your google account, and the ballot is shared in your email. You can complete the ballot right from the email.  Please complete your ballot carefully and give careful thought to the two boys and two girls who you believe would represent your grade according to our RAMS LEADER philosophy.

If there are no tech issues, winners will be announced at the end of the day.

Are you interested in robotics? As a part of the First Robotics club, students will program and test a fully functioning robot.  Students will also do a research project on a current issue or problem. The First Robotics club does require a commitment of time and consistent effort.  If you are interested, sign up in the office now until September 6 for an informational meeting on THURSDAY September 7 at 7:25 in Mrs. Donnelly’s room 3013. 

 

If you lost a pair of glasses yesterday, they are in the office to claim.
